Our coaches combine baseball experience, mentorship, leadership, and research-based development principles to help athletes grow with confidence and purpose.

Coach Robert TX Smashers

Coach Robert Jacob

Player Development Coach

Coach Robert Jacob is a baseball instructor and player development coach with advanced training through the Tom House pitching philosophy. His coaching approach emphasizes pitching mechanics, arm care, velocity development, functional movement, performance training, and long-term athlete development.

He has completed Human Kinetics Coach Education coursework focused on athlete development, sports psychology, communication, and evidence-based coaching principles.

Coach Robert is certified through the Babe Ruth League Organization and continues to pursue ongoing education in baseball instruction, player development, arm care, and coaching methodology.

He is also an active member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and studies resources from the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) to remain connected to modern baseball research, analytics, and development trends.

Coach Robert is a Certified Cognitive Sports Trainer, helping athletes improve focus, confidence, reaction, awareness, and mental performance alongside physical development.

TX Smashers Development Philosophy

Our development philosophy is influenced by evidence-based baseball research, biomechanics, pitching science, cognitive training, and modern athlete development principles associated with organizations such as the Rod Dedeaux Research and Baseball Institute. We believe development should be measurable, teachable, scientifically evaluated, and focused on long-term athlete health and performance.

Baseball Mentor & Community Leader

Coach Bob brings decades of baseball experience, mentorship, leadership, and community involvement to TX Smashers. His passion for helping young athletes develop confidence, discipline, sportsmanship, accountability, and resilience continues to positively impact athletes and families throughout the organization.

Through mentorship and leadership, Coach Bob helps create a culture focused on teamwork, preparation, effort, leadership, accountability, and love for the game.

  • Financed and coached the first select high school all-star team, Texas Stars, from 1994-1996.
  • Mentored for three years under Jim Mallon at Southwestern University.
  • Assisted with Braves tryout operations from 1994-1996 under the leadership of former Major League pitcher Ray Corbin .
  • Student of Tom House pitching philosophy with emphasis on movement efficiency, pitching mechanics, and long-term arm care.
  • Currently teaches private lessons at Doc's Baseball Clinic in Hutto, Texas.
  • Studied sports psychology for four years, applying mental performance concepts into athlete development.
  • Utilizes a pitch evaluator for visual performance analysis to help athletes better understand mechanics, timing, and movement efficiency.

Coach Bob continues to help athletes build confidence, discipline, leadership, and stronger foundations both on and off the field.
